Kesar Chawal
Brief Description
Kesar Chawal is a main course festival recipe which is prepared with long grain Indian basmati rice with kesar for flavoring. Learn the recipe by following the steps mentioned below.
Preparation Time 15 mins Cooking Time 30 mins Number Of Serves 4 Ingredients for Kesar Chawal
- Rice- 2 cups
- Water- 4 cups
- Ghee- 6 Tsp
- Saffron- 1 tsp
- Hot water- 2 Tbsp
- Sliced Onions- 1 cup
- Cinnamon Stick- 1 inch piece
- Bay leaves- 4
- Large Black cardamoms- 4
- Cumin seeds- 1 Tbsp
- Cloves- 4
- Salt to taste
How To Make Kesar Chawal
- Take hot water and soak saffron in it.
- Wash the rice and soak it in water for a while.
- Take a pan, heat oil in it and fry onions. Take out and set aside. Add cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms and salt.
- Put in bay leaves and half of the onions.
- Take the rice out of water and keep water aside.
- Add the rice grains to the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes while stirring continuously. Add water and bring to a boil.
- Add the saffron with water and pressure cook it.
- Remove from the fire and let the pressure drop on its own.
