Dahi Bhalla
Brief Description
Dahi Bhalla is widely eaten in India as a snack. And it is quite healthy too as it contains curd and dal as main ingredients. Learn how to prepare this famous snack at home by following the recipe below.
Preparation Time 15 mins Cooking Time 30 mins Number Of Serves 4 Ingredients for Dahi Bhalla
For Bhalle
- split black gram- 1 cup
- Asafoetida- a pinch
- Salt as needed
- Oil
- green chili, powder- 1
- ginger- 1 tsp
For Filling
- Chopped Cashew- 1 tsp
- Raisins-1 tsp
- Grated coconut- 1 small tsp
- Salt as required
For The Dahi
- Yogurt- 2 cups
- Milk- ½ cup
- Sugar- just a pinch
For Seasoning And Garnishing
- Roasted jeera powder- 1 tsp
- Black salt- 1 tsp
- Sweet tamarind chutney- 2 tbsp
- Pomegranate seeds- 8-10
How To Make Dahi Bhalla
- Keep dal soaked in water for two hours and then grind into a paste with all the ingredients for bhalle except oil.
- Take a bowl and mix all the filling ingredients.
- Take a wok and heat oil in it.
- Take a tbsp of bhalle mixture in your palm and flatten it out. Place some filling in the center.
- Now close it to form a ball like shape and place in the oil for deep frying.
- Take them out when done and soak in water for 30 minutes.
- Take yoghurt: mix in milk and sugar.
- Now take the bhalle out of the water and squeeze out the additional water gently. Place them in beaten yoghurt.
- Now put them in serving bowl and use the seasoning and garnishing ingredients to top them.
- Serve immediately.
