Chhena Kheeri
Brief Description
Chhena Kheeri is the famous sweet treat that is originally from Orissa and more popular in eastern India, and its popularity spreading in neighboring states of Orissa. Learn how to make Chhena Kheeri, Take 500ml of full cream milk curdled with fresh lemon juice. Chhena Kheeri cubes of fresh cottage cheese made by garnished with dried fruits and chopped nuts and sweetened milk syrup with good quality rose water.
Time to Prepare Minutes-10 Cook Time Minutes-45 Serves Pieces-4 Ingredients For Chhena Kheeri
- Full cream milk for cheena - 500ml
- Milk for ras – 500ml
- Squeeze out the juice, 1lemon
- All purpose flour – 2tsp
- Sugar for ras – 1 cup
- Good quality rose water – 1tsp
- Finely chopped dry fruits to garnish – 1tsp
How to make Chhena Kheeri
For chhena preparation
- Take 500ml full cream milk for boiling and curdle it with lemon juice. Make sure stirring mixture continuously.
- Now drain it through a diluted muslin cloth and extract the chhena. Since wash it under running tap water.
- In chhena, Drain out the excess water and mix 2 tsp all purpose flour and blend it well. Now Make 10-15 chhena pieces informing of small cube shaped with the help of your palms and set aside.
For Ras Preparation
- First boil the milk and add sugar in a pan. Knead well. Wait for approx 5-6 minutes until the preferred consistency is arrive at.
- Keep these chhena pieces in the syrup and lid slightly covered for cooking 10-15 minutes. And Chhena dumpling will rise and swell.
- Add 1tsp good quality rose water and garnish with chopped dry fruits on cooling time. Now ready to enjoy eating and serve chilled.
