Chhena Gaja
Brief Description
Chhena Gaja is one of the most famous sweet treat from Orissa, Northern India, and India such as Rasgulla. Chhene Gaja is a rectangle-shape dessert made with sweet sugar syrup and good quality rose water. Rasgulla and Chhena Gaja are similar as per the taste, but only the difference in shape between them. These Chhena Gaja are soft, sweet, juicy, delicates and melts in the mouth.
Time to Prepare Minutes -10 Time for cooking Minutes -45 Serves Pieces - 4 Ingredients For Chhena Gaja
- Milk for Chhena – 1liter
- Squeeze out the juice – 1lemon
- Maida or all purpose flour – 2tsp
- Sugar for sugar syrup – 2 cups
- Water – 6 cups
- Rose water – 1tsp
- Pistachios - 2 tablespoon
How to make Chhena Gaja
For Chhena Preparation
- First boil the 1liter milk, Mix the lemon juice and stir mixture continuously till it becomes curdled.
- Now Drain it through a diluted muslin cloth and extract the chhena after wash it under running tap water.
- In Chhena, Drain out the excess water and mix 2 tsp of Maida or all purposes flour which is required in it and knead well.
- Now Make all Chhena pieces informing of small rectangular shaped with the help of your palms and Gather it aside.
For Sugar Syrup
- In sugar syrup, first boil the water in a pan, add the sugar and mixed it well.
- Set it to cook for approx 5-6 minutes or till the desired consistency is come.
- Put these Chhena pieces in the syrup and lid slightly covered for cooking 10-15 minutes.
- When Chhena dumpling will rise and swell. Add 1tsp good quality rose water on cooling time, now Chhena Gaja take them out from the sugar syrup and set it in a tray.
- Refrigerate and serve chilled.
