Moinuddin Chishti
History
Mouniuddin was a famous Sufi saint of Chisti period of India and was a spiritual saint of the Chishti order, which consisted of Mouniuddin Chisti, Bakhtiyar Kaki, Baba Farid and Nizamuddin Auliya who were the disciples of the previous Saints in the order. He contributed to be the most famous Sufi Saint of the period. He was born in 536 AH and lived till 1141 CE in the Chishti in Sistan region of East Persia. He lived in Persia and lost his parents in his 15th year. His assets from his father were nothing but a windmill and an orchard. Mouniuddin was very devoted to God and involved in prayers during his young age. His work is appreciated thus that the famous Sufi Sheikh Ibrahim Qunduzi came to see him when he was watering his plants. Mouniuddin who offered him fruits was in return given bread by Sheikh Ibrahim and went to a different world after eating the bread which also led to him leaving all his worldly affairs, leave things for the poor and go for Bukhara to get more knowledge and spiritual enlightenment. He became the disciple of Usman Harooni.
More Description
By visiting the Seminaries of Samarkand and Bukhara, he got enlightenment and thus visited many Muslim cultural places. He got introduced to many Muslim religious leaders and thus became the disciple of Chishti Saint Usman Harooni who accompanied him for travel to Middle East and Mecca and Medina. Mouniuddin Chishti visited India as per the orders from Prophet Muhammad in his dreams. He went to Lahore and then to Ajmer with Sultan Shahab Ud Din Muhammad Ghori and settled there. In Ajmer, he was greatly respected and was responsible for popularising Chishti order which impresses on renunciation of material life and transformation to spiritual life. Thus believed that earnings was to have a subsistence for living and one is expected to be more generous and advocated devotion by way of bringing out the distressed people from their miserable condition and help the needy and hungry stricken people.
Mouniuddin Chishti was the author of various books which includes Anis Al Arwan and Dalil al Arfin and these speak about Islamic code of conduct and living style. He is buried in the Maqbara enclosure.

Through Air, one can reach Jaipur from any part of India or world.
From Jaipur, Ajmer is around 135 kms and it is advisable to take a cab or bus to reach the place. Also, broad gauge line covers this tourist center from all Indian cities and within Rajasthan. From other places, metre gauge trains are running.
Also by road, this place comes under National Highway 8 and hi5 buses and luxury cars are available throughout to visit this place.
The Dargah is open between 5 AM to 9 PM during winter and between 4 AM to 10 PM during summer. Many celebrities visit this Dargah regularly.
