Madavoor Cm Makham
The Dargah which is established at Madavoor in Kozhikode District in Kerala, India, is Madavoor CM Makham, which is considered a holy place of pilgrimage by Muslim devotees. This is the place where the Muslim Scholar CM Aboobackar Musaliar was born and it is also the place where he died. Madavoor is located 21 km from Kozhikode closer to the Kozhikode-Wayanad National Highway.
Although this is primarily the pilgrimage place for Muslims, large members from other religions too visit this place because of its fame and reputation. There is an annual celebration performed here on the day of demise of CM Aboobackar Musaliar called CM Makham Urs, which is attended by good number of people from all sections of society.
Presently, there are a few educational institutions and orphanages run by Madavoor CM Makham, providing free education and abode for all needy persons irrespective of one’s religious alienation.
History
Since 1990, CM Valiyullahi on completion of his spiritual tours, returned to Madavoor and developed this village into a spiritual centre, offering a number of facilities that promote the welfare of Muslim community in terms of education, motivation, professional orientation, health care, shelter for the needy and abandoned as a mission and commitment to the society at large, apart from promoting spiritual pursuits of the community. This village in fact carries a spiritual lineage of over 400 years nurtured by CM Valiyullahi and his forefathers.
The vision of Madavoor CM Makham encompasses enhancement and upbringing of Muslim community in the areas of education and culture, preserving, protecting and promoting the accurate religious wisdom and also the socio-religious rites observing the rituals of community.
The Makham has defined its Mission in specific terms to provide proper direction for performing rites and rituals that Islam expects:
- By promoting both religious and secular education
- By highlighting the significant and important messages of Auliyas like C.M. Valiyullahi
- By providing assistance and support to the needy at right times
- By protecting and preserving the Islamic culture, wisdom and way of life
Institutions Functioning in Madavoor
In pursuit of its mission, the CM Makham operates the following institutions:
- C.M. Makham Jamia As'ariyya Islamic and Arts, a center for higher education in Islamic Studies with the spiritual presence of CM Valiyullahi.
- Nusrathul Huda Higher Secondary Madrasas functioning under C.M. Makham Mahallujama'th run for general academic facility and extracurricular activities.
- C.M. Markham Pally Dars established to retain the traditional way of learning where 35 students are studying now under this pattern.
- C.M. Makham Islamic Nursery School providing free basic education with an Islamic perspective and with English Medium orientation.
- Relief Cell operating in an organised manner for providing help for the poor of community in their different kind of needs like education, marriage, health, house construction and other living facilities.
- C.M Makham Orphanage established in 1997, protecting and patronising those unfortunate children who had been orphaned by the destiny of Allah, taking care of their food, shelter, clothing, education and healthcare, while the orphanage is functioning on both religious and secular basis.
How to Reach
Madavoor lies within 21 km distance from Kozhikode, which is a prominent town in Kerala State. Madavoor town has good road and rail connections with Kozhikode primarily and other destinations of Kerala frequently. Kozhikode Railway Station is 24 km from the Shrine and this Station is a stopping place for all fast moving and express trains.
Kozhikode is approachable via National Highways NH 17, NH 212 and NH 213 from Mumbai, Mysore and Palakkad respectively. KSRTC runs regular buses to Kozhikode from various centres, while there are frequent buses to Madavoor from Kozhikode.
By air, one can land at Kozhikode in Kozhikode in Calicut International Airport to which flights form most of the domestic and international destinations are scheduled on all days.
