Kerala Mangalam Dam

Location Alathurtaluk area of Palakkad region in Kerala
Mangalam dam has been designed across this stream Cherukunnapuzha and this is tributary of the Mangalam stream. A tunnel program for watering objective was finished and started out in year 1966, in Alathurtaluk area of Palakkad region in Kerala, Southern Indian. Most of population have came from, Perumbavoor Kottayam as well as Chalakkudy. There are rubberized, spice up, java, and tapioca farms in this place.
Mangalam dam has been located 17 kms away from Vadakkencherry. Kunjiarpathy, Ponkandam, Odenthode, Olipara, Vattapara, Kavilupara, Neethipuram, Uppumanne, Kadappara, Balaswaram-V.R.T and also Choorupara had been also in place. A huge landslide happened at Kavilupara nearer to Odenthode and this was during the year 2007 flooding.
Effect of the Project
This dam has been mainly constructed for the purpose of providing water to the Alathur district and that lies in the Kerala Palakkad district. It also comprises of a spillway and canal system network and that will be utilized for the purpose of irrigating the 3650 hectares of land. It is present in the district of the palakkad. During the summer seasons, this dam is having the scarcity of water.
Attractions
You could also see dense woodlands in place of the Karimkayam, Kadappara, Odenthode. Ample numbers of aadivasies are remaining in strong woodlands. And there has been excellent fountain nearer till Kadapara. And there are some excellent Rubber farms throughout this place. (50 kms from the Palakkad) This dam has been designed across this Cherukunnath River, a tributary as of this Mangalam River. The dam site has been well-known eat outside identify. Nenmara and Nelliampathy are some of the places that are present adjacent to this area.
