Length of this barrage is 1223.5 mts. There are 37 spillways have been made to regulate the discharge of water. Channels attached to this barrage are directly connected with the canals at both ends. Each channel has a group of canals which irrigate the surrounding areas and also cross the Vijayawada district. This barrage is also a road (like a bridge) and helps to regulate the traffic. Gates of the barrage are having largest gates and crane chain available in any barrage of India.
