National Commission On Cattle

One of the important agencies established by the Government of India, the National Commission on Cattle works as an autonomous body for the cause of the cattle in the country. Mainly a research agency this Commission is involved in multiple tasks to ensure better care of cattle through better guidance for cattle care.

About National Commission on Cattle

National Commission on Cattle is a crucial body that had been established by Indian government in the year 2001 for the care of cattle. This agency has played pivotal role as an advisory body to recommend the reports to the Central as well as State governments for the best care and protection of cattle. Its roles have been lauded on various platforms and the researchers involved in the implementation of this Commission’s reports have been respected around the country for their too much effective and constructive contribution in the Indian society as far as the cattle care options are concerned.

Mr. Guman Mal Lodha chaired the National Commission on Cattle and submitted the Commission report to the government in a years’ time period  in 2002 with the many suggestions for multiple options for the recommendations.

Mandate

National Commission on Cattle was set up with the specific mandate to do the best and apply all the resources possible to improve the conditions of cattle in the Indian societies. It was an initiative by the government to ensure that this sector is best promoted through keeping in view the agrarian society of the country whose large scale population are involved in the cattle rearing activities.

Recommendation Reports

It took mere one year for the National Commission on Cattle to submit its detailed report which advised several measures to improve the condition of cattle in India especially in the rural areas. The report which this Commission submitted to the government suggested for an attempt in line with the international standards to ensure an increase in the cattle population in the country on the large scale.

Implementation of Recommendations

Indian government took the report and proposals of the National Commission on Cattle seriously and approved them for implementation. The proposals which this Commission had offered to the government were of paramount value and were taken into account seriously for the best possible implementation.

The government has taken several measures which have been advised by the National Commission on Cattle to protect cattle in whole country. Implementation phase also involved best possible involvement of various associated teams that could play effective roles to streamline the laws pertaining to the cattle protection.

Similarly, steps were also taken to modify or restructure the rules, regulations and all the laws for best cattle protection and rearing.

There has remained the involvement of many important figures from the politics to science and social science to implement the recommendations of this Commission for that the subsequent governments have taken serious steps ever since the report was sub mitted. This Commission has proved an idea generation source for that the experts dealing with the cattle protection have been involved to judge and explore the suggestions and guidelines for better cattle care.

The drafting of National Commission on Cattle report by the former HRD Minister Murali Manohar Joshi and Social Activist Dharampal Sarodaya brought revolutionary outcome for the animal care for that a welfare board had been setup. Several key suggestions and guidelines had been offered by this Commission that have been brought into focus ever since the report was submitted and the implementation process began. They have given excellent outcomes.
