All Saints Church is a grand church under the supervision of the Church of South India. It is situated in Trimulgherry, a vast locality lying in Secunderabad. It is believed that this church was Garrison Church, which was ever presided by Army Chaplains. Later, it was handed over to the Church of South India in the year of 1947. At the present time, it serves the congregation of Tamil Anglican of Secunderabad and proffers services in the language of English every week and also in Tamil language every alternate week.
History
All Saints Church was built in the year 1860 AD for providing services to the British Cantonment belonging to Secunderabad. It was the first permanent construction located in the Trimulgherry Entrenchment.
Architecture
This church is an extraordinary Gothic structure flanked by a tower belfry and turrets. Its altar is very magnificent glass window, which depicts Jesus holding the cross. Its glass window dates back to the year of 1884 and is dedicated in the sweet memory of Lieutenant of Royal Artillery, Edward Dawson. Memorial tablets sixteen in number along the church walls throws light on the officers of the British, who lived and also died in Secunderabad.
Lamps, antique pews along with baptismal font are a few of the precious possessions of this monument. It also received the INTACH heritage award from Andhra Pradesh government for good maintenance.
Queen’s Visit
In the year of o1983, Queen Elizabeth II paid visit to this church. The queen also patronized sacred Trinity Church Bolarum. This is the place, where she celebrated her 36th marriage anniversary.
