Korba is known as the power capital of Chhattisgarh. This district is surrounded with green forest where a huge number of tribal populations are settled. The district is situated in the Northern Rocks and Hills area of the Chhattisgarh.

History:

The community of Korba comes under various social, religious and cultural backgrounds. The scheduled tribes that belong to Korba district are PahadiKorwa, Kawar, Raj Gond, Gond, Binjwar, Bhaiyana, Dhanuhar etc. Korba was awarded as a complete revenue generating district with effect from 25th May, 1998.

As per 2001 census, Korba’s total population of 1011823, out of which 515147 are males and 496676 are females. Literacy rate is 51.5%.

Korba is located at Latitude of 220 01' to 230 01' and Longitude of 820 08' to 830 09', and height is 304.8 meters above sea level. Korba district is located in the northern part of the Chhattisgarh state.

Culture:

Korba district is known for its diverse culture. The festivals celebrated by people of this district include Dussehra, Holi, Diwali and Christmas. The adivasis mainly celebrate festivals such as DevUthni, Cherchera, Pola, Karma and Hareli.

Traditionally, dance forms of the Adivasis of this district are RavatNacha, Karma Nacha, Suva Nacha.
