Shivagange World of Adventure Mystery and Legends
Shivagange is located in Tumkur district in Karnataka. It is a small hillock which means a combination of Gange and Shiva. There is Lord Shiva’s temple situated at the hill’s summit. There is a spring as well nearby called Gange having sacred water. Because of all these factors, this place is considered amongst the sacred tourist spots in Karnataka.
Shivagange is a sacred destination for the pilgrims having many religious spots and shrines. There is a carved stone ‘Nandi’-the bull which comes under major shivgange attractions. It draws the attention of many visitors. There are many temples like Patala Gange, Nandi statue, Olakala Teertha, Gangadhareshwar etc, due to which it is also renowned as Kashi or Dakshina Kashi of Southern India.
Shivagange is also a delight for adventure seekers as it is famous destination for one day trekking in Karnataka. There is a well marked trail of the hill to the summit having safety rails for the safety of the climbers and trekkers. The man-made steps made for the ease of the climbers and the trekking experience gives the visitors another add on to the tourist spots in Karnataka.
There are various shivagange attractions available for the pilgrims and tourists like Gangadhareshwar temple. It has an ancient shrine of Lord Shiva having earthen lamps and low roof inside. Another attraction of Shivagange is Olakala Teertha. There is a spring flowing at this place in between the hill rocks and the spring water is known to be sacred. There is a belief that only honest and pious people at this place, can touch the spring water.
