Explore Humayun Tomb Reasons to Visit this Iconic Structure
The historic city of Delhi, also the capital of India was unable to get the status of World heritage city. Nonetheless, there is good news for the lovers of Delhi Heritage structures. The Humayun Tomb which was declared as a wold heritage site some two decades ago is accompanied with six other monuments with same glory making Tour to Humayun Tomb a memorable experience.
The newly included monuments received the status after clarifications of the boundary and retrospective recognition of other historic monuments. The efforts of Archaeological Survey of India proved to be fruitful immediately after UNESCO announced the inclusion of Humayun Tombs and other monuments as World heritage site recently.
The other heritage sites along with Humayun Tombs
Tour to Humayun Tomb includes tombs of 16th century forms part of unique ensemble and hence the UNESCO has officially declared these also as world heritage site. Part of United Nations agency, UNESCO has announced the Afsarwala Complex, Bu Halima garden tomb, Arab kiSerai, Nila Gumbad and Isa Khan's garden tomb as heritage sites which effectively raised the heritage zone from existing 26 acres to 54 acres – an increase by more than two times.
Efforts of ASI
The Archaeological Survey of India has been pursuing the same with UNESCO for inclusion of associated tombs within Tombs complex so as to ensemble those as contemporary sites of heritage in terms of garden tombs.
This comes as a welcome move in recognition of the years of efforts put in to conserve Humayun’s tomb. To meet the world heritage requirements, the Humayun Tomb Attractions will be enhanced to offer enhanced visitor experience.
Going forward, Humayun Tomb Attractions will also include Batashewala complex, Sundarwala Burj and Sundarwala Mahalare that are under buffer to be identified as Heritage sites by the UNESCO. The renovation d restoration works at these three placeshave been recently concluded.
