Krishna is one of the districts of Andhra Pradesh. Previously, the district of Krishna was known by the name of Machlipatnam. In 1859, when several talukas from the district of Guntur were added to the Machlipatnam, it was renamed as Krishna. In the year 1904, the district of Guntur was separated from the district of Krishna and in the era of 1925, the district of West Godavari was too alienated from the district of Krishna. Like many districts of the state of Andhra Pradesh, the district also was ruled by several rulers.

The district of Krishna is spread over a region of eight thousand seven hundred twenty seven square kilometer. It comprises of a shoreline of about eighty eight kilometers. The district is bordered by.
