Anantapur is one of the twenty three districts of Andhra Pradesh, Its headquarters is located at Anantapur city. The district is separated into three Revenue Divisions which consists of sixty three Revenue Mandals.

The district is the largest amongst all the districts of Andhra Pradesh, stretching over an area of nineteen thousand one hundred thirty square kilometer. The population consists mainly of Telegu and Kannada speaking people. English is also spoken fairly in this district. The official languages of the district are Urdu and Telegu. In this district the population consists mainly of Hindus, Muslims and Christians.

The northern and central regions of the district consist of high plateaus with generally undulating surfaces. Hilly areas are predominant on the Southern part. The district experiences a dry climate with very poor annual rainfall of around 381 millimeters.

Anantapur is connected throughhighway with major cities like Chennai Hyderabad and Bangalore with regular transport services. Though the district itself doesn’t have much for tourist attractions and hardly generates any revenue through tourism, but in and around  places of interest include:
