Tawang Air Force Station

Tawang Air Force station or Tawang AFS is very much a helipad operating in India’s northeastern region. This helipad is located in the northeastern Arunachal Pradesh state. The ownership and operation of this small airbase is mainly under security  forces—Indian Air Forces. The security forces keep control over this heliport whose location is at 27.58846092224121 latitude and 91.87769317626953 longitudes respectively. This heliport is located at the elevation of 8756 ft., from the sea level and is best known in the whole Asian region for the distinctness it maintains by its location and setup.

History

Tawang AFS had been established by the Government of India which kept in view the border security needs of the country from northeastern side where different states especially Arunachal Pradesh do share their borers with the neighboring country, China. With its status of a heliport, this tiny airport also plays pivotal role to maintain the system for security training, monitoring and other types of security arrangements besides this airport having been developed to keep itself ready to counter any unforeseen warlike scenes which might occur in this area being one to share the international border.

Tawang Air Force Station or Tawang AFS geographically coordinates at 27°35'19N 91°52'40E and is mainly an important training and air strike airbase controlled by the Indian Air Forces. Tawang AFS helipad operates with its runway which support to the Air Force jets and to continue various training projects. This runway is still not ready for any of the commercial operation as it mainly remains a helipad and the tiny airbase rather than being an airport to control or operate the domestic air operations. That is why its runway is still not developed on large scale or modernized for bigger operations.

Units at Tawang AFS

Tawang AFS is a helipad which also remains one of the strongest Units for the Air Forces operation from this region of India. The forces are always involved in various types of training sessions, so are the operation of fighter jets training under the northeastern command to keep the country’s northeastern borders in better control with the best possible manner for vigilance. Units operating here and surrounding areas do coordinate with the nearby airbases or airports for perfect operation.
