With its status of a heliport, this tiny airport also plays pivotal role to maintain the system for security training, monitoring and other types of security arrangements besides this airport having been developed to keep itself ready to counter any unforeseen warlike scenes which might occur in this area being one to share the international border.
Nearby airports like Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and Tezpur Airports are located at the distance of 167 and 133 kilometers from Tawang AFS respectively. This heliport remains well connected with nearby airports operating for both armed forces as well as those serving the general masses under commercial operations to connect all the northeastern states with rest part of the country and the world.

Runways

That is why its runway is still not developed on large scale or modernized for bigger operations.
