The Srinagar Airport (IATA: SXR,ICAO: VISR), has been an international airport located in Srinagar in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. This airport is said to have undergone a large number of renovations being done extensively, which includes the improvement of runway, for arrival and departure purposes, new terminal is being made, there are air bridges as well as several operational facilities being availed here.

History

The inauguration of Srinagar Airport was done on 14th February 2009 by running an Air India flight coming from Dubai. Sometimes, there are operations such as seasonal Hajj pilgrimage charters going to Jeddah are found.

It was when Pratibha Patel, the then President of India went for a visit to Dushanbe in the year 2009, that mooting of Tajikistan-India air link was done as per the suggestion. It had to stop en route at Srinagar for Kashmiri pilgrim's convenience for visiting the shrine of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani located at Kulob in Tajokistan.

Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 Srinagar

The location of Srinagar’s Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 is in the Airforce Station of Srinagar. It lies in the heart of lush green environment that provides a peaceful as well as tranquil atmosphere for studies. This institution came into being in 1978 under the Defense Sector.It was since then that this Vidyalaya has witnessed success at a large pace in all spheres of education.

At present the school consists of over 1100 students who are being imparted quality education in order to train them to become competent, dynamic and inculcate in them good habits for their brighter tomorrow. The school facilitates the school with two separate Computer Labs as well as a Junior science laboratory besides the laboratories of Physics, Chemistry and Biology respectively. There is a big library which is well stocked with a large number of books related to different subjects as well as a separate Geography lab available to the students in the Kendriya Vidyalaya. There is a large emphasis being made to develop among the students, inquisitiveness and scientific temper. There is an overall development of personality of the students taking place here through inter-house competitions, different sports, guides and scouts along with adventure activities being held here.

There is also a nature club found in the Vidyalaya which helps the students remain close to nature and be conscious about its welfare. To cater to the queries of students related to their career or emotional issues, there is a guidance and Counseling cell running there. Although the entire syllabus is there to improvise the personalities of the students but Life skill education, remedial teaching, value education and disaster management are the integral parts of the curriculum.
