Phalodi Air Force Station

The Central Government of India approved for the establishment of Phalodi AFS in the Rajasthan state in the year 2000 to strengthen its Air Forces operation. Purpose of establishing a new airbase was to make sure that a new fighter airbase could be developed which Air Forces would use for further strengthening of their operation. This airbase has been developed at the Phalodi city nearby the Suratgarh region of Rajasthan state. It now caters to the ever increasing needs of the security forces.

Of the key importance is maintenance area that has been developed at this airbase. Rest facilities besides the additional aircraft maintenance area include an entirely modern administrative complex and accommodation facilities for Air Force officers and the large team in other ranks for their accommodation according to hierarchic ranks. The newly developed airbase has all the modern facilities and infrastructure available there which the air stations require in present context from them being equipped with the unique and erudite surveillance equipment besides latest models of aircrafts brought there for the Air Force training purposes.

Phalodi AFS has been developed in such manner that any impromptu misadventure from across the border could be easily monitored from the latest technology used in this airbase to keep the Indian forces active and ready to counter such situations. It was the important aim for which this airbase had been developed a decade ago by keeping in view the ardent needs of the India’s security forces.

History

Formal inauguration of Phalodi AFS was held in October 2001. This new Air Force Station proved a major airbase for the Indian Air Forces to initiate additional fighter trainings that too nearby the national capital region. As it was well-planned and one of the strategically developed airbase it did welcome various supporting tools too. One such supporting element was the construction of a state-of-the-art care and maintenance unit nearby this new Air Force station that brought everything right in order. Equally did it ensure the effective operation of this newly developed airbase.

Already in operational since its establishment, Phalodi AFS plays pivotal role for the Air Force trainings. Its establishment was strategic for the security purposes and it was very much aimed at empowering the Indian Air Forces whose arena has been growing each passing of the day. Having been developed in an area comprising of 4000 acres, the newly developed Phalodi AFS closer to the Phalodi town plays a pivotal role for the training and operation of Indian Air Forces.

According to an estimation from the Central Government, Phalodi AFS construction project cost the nation Rupees 300 crores. Its close proximity to the western border of the country makes this airbase an important one in all respects in this region. That is why it proves an exceptionally important airbase for the Western Sector of the country’s Air Forces to streamline its operation.

Runways

Phalodi AFS has been developed with all required amenities which an airbase should have like the modern runway to make it easy for the aircrafts landing & take-off. Its state-of-the-art runway serves such important purpose.

Units at Phalodi AFS Base

Several Units operate from Phalodi AFS to ensure Air Force trainings and air strikes could be done in case any such need occurs. Units play pivotal role in managing the Air Forces operation in western border of India which shares an international border and needs complete vigilance to maintain the internal security and external threats of all kinds.
