Bhuj Rudra Mata Air Force Base is an air force base of India situated in the town of Bhuj in Gujarat and its runways are shared with bhuj airport.
It is an element of South Western Air Command. The base of Bhuj which got spoiled on 26 January in the year 2001 is now reconstructed completely. A special monument erected to pay respect to the 68 members of a family and 30 air warriors of the personnel of IAF who lost their lives in the calamity was inaugurated at a solemn ceremony by AOC-in-C, Air Marshal AR Gandhi and South Western Air Command. Later on, accommodation for married, operational complexe and messes for the airmen which rebuild at the airbase is also inaugurated by Air Marshal.
The Bhuj airbase became the center point, when the earthquake distressed this region as it is the region where all instant relief resources were brought in by the air force and other civil air craft including the aircrafts of foreign countries. Between 26 January and March in the year 2001 nearly 1300 landings by assistance aircraft belonging to a variety of agencies were synchronized by the air base personnel. The air warriors saved many lives, although the loss of their near ones and their own comrades.
Again, the airbase today is overflowing with the activities as the station, with new structures of residents has been outfitted with all facilities such as parks, playgrounds, swimming pool, auditorium, air force school and shopping complex. In order to ensure foliage around the campus, a drive of arboriculture has also been launched.
Kendriya Vidyalaya, No.1, Air Force Station
Kendriya Vidyalaya was established in the year 1980 and it is the No.1 air force station of Bhuj.It was made in order to give eminence education to the students belonging to this region. Recognized in the defense sector, it is administered by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan which is an independent body under the Human Resources Development Ministry, Government of India having its headquarters at New Delhi.
To the children of Para-Military, Defense and the other employees of central government the vidyalaya caters all the educational needs by providing a programme of education which is common. By pursuing superiority in the curricular and co- curricular activities the vidyalaya strives for on the whole development of the students. By the introduction of most recent trends in the field of educational technology the teaching and learning standard has been kept high. In the fields of sports, academics and other co-curricular activities frequently the vidayalaya has made remarkable achievements.
The vidayalaya is a temple of learning in its true morale is situated in a roomy and conductive atmosphere.The total number of students is around 1350 divided in three sections in all classes. To meet the demands of the present days of teaching and learning it has to credit its outstanding infrastructural facilities.
