Bhatinda Air Force Station
Prominent civil enclave, Bathinda AFS is integral part of Bhisiana Air Force Station owned by the Air Force of India. It has been developed further over the period and by now it owns a domestic air terminal as well. Its closeness to Virk Kalan village that is mere 20 kilometers from the Punjab state’s Bhatinda in the northwestern side make it attractive location for the Air Forces to explore the true rustic culture.
As per the panning having been chalked out by the Airports Authority of India, the construction of Bathinda AFS was made possible through procuring an area of nearly 42 acres of land to develop the Bathinda civil enclave. The authorities had already invested rupees 25 crores in this project to make it one of the most notable state-of-the art Air Force airports in India to serve with its modern infrastructure.
The plan has been ably implemented ever since Bathinda AFS project and its work had been moved further for implementation. It has been designed to accommodate 2 ATR 42 types of aircrafts and so does attract glass and steel terminal building of this airport to hundreds of thousands of visitors. Its uniquely developed VIP lounge, 30-seater security hold and two check-in counters besides two conveyor belts make it entirely unique domestic airport to explore. This airport also has a parking area where at least 25 cars can be accommodated easily at one go.
History
There is unique history behind the creation of Bathinda AFS. Its development was a well-planned strategy keeping in view the ardent needs of Indian Air Forces for an exclusive solution in the Punjab region of the country that required a completely new and modern airbase. The purpose was to implement Modernization of Air Force Infrastructure (MAFI) plan of the government in this region to strengthen Indian forces through such unique airbase at Bhatinda.
The process to develop Bathinda AFS infrastructure took the government to invest approximately 240 million USD funds for such grand and state-of-the-art air force station which has new runways and best of the lighting system that can maintain its Air Traffic Control (ATC) system to the best extent without forcing to face any sort of hassle. US based Raytheon Company had been involved in this project to provide the ATC component of Bathinda AFS especially to further its Auto Trac III systems installation at the newly developed IAF station which could serve the main purpose to the level extent. Experienced teams from around the country and the USA were involved to smoothen the fast development of this airbase.
Runways
Bathinda AFS has been developed uniquely with its state of the art runways. It is a medium airport mainly developed to serve the Air Force and operates with its major runways which suffice the needs of the Indian Air Force in this Unit.
Units at Bathinda AFS Base
Being a most recent airbase, Bathinda AFS has started operation under Air Force supervision henceforth its operation remains with the limited units as an airbase that is exclusively. It eases the operation of Air Force in and around the region.
KV Bathinda AFS
Equally is notable the system and organized structure of Bathinda AFS who’s KV is a strong unit operating under the specific motto to train and operate for country’s security. It is indeed a full-fledged Air Force Station and has already emerged into a fast developing airport in the area where KVs play pivotal role.
